One can see many monuments of significance in this city-as many as 175 monuments that have been dedicated as natural heritage sites.

The Old City is the site where the Mughals and the Turkic rulers made several architectural marvels such as India’s larges mosque, the Jama Masjid, as well as the Red Fort. Another World Heritage site is Humayun’s Tomb.

For astronomy buffs, there is the Jantar Mantar, an eighteenth century astronomical observatory.

Other sites include the Purana Qila, a 16th century fortress, and the Lotus Temple among other modern temples.

There are memorial houses associated with Mahatma Gandhi and other memorable personalities.

Visitors to Delhi can visit the governmental buildings and official residences typical of British colonial architecture.
